Turn of the Screw by Henry James Susan Scary, Short (96 pages)
Hell House Susan (of course) Scary!!! "Hell House is the scariest haunted house novel ever written. It looms over the rest the way the mountains loom over the foothills." --Stephen King http://www.amazon.com/Hell-House-Richard-Matheson/dp/0312868855/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422391480&sr=8-1&keywords=hell+house&pebp=1422391482558&peasin=312868855
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Jeff Translation from Swedish. Three parts. I've only read the first book. Creepy Mystery and Computer Hackery
The Last Ringbearer Jeff The Last Ringbearer is the Lord of the Rings told from the perspective of Mordor. It is a prequel that illuminates the political landscape at the time of LOTR. The Wikipedia article describes the book http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Ringbearer and includes links to the English translations. http://ymarkov.livejournal.com/280578.html is the website of the translator where he includes the various texts in several formats.
Or a Hemingway book? Confederacy of Dunces? The Sound and the Fury? Susan I've read Confederacy of Dunces (Jeff). It is a strangely funny book.
Deliver Us From Evil: From the Case Files of Ed & Lorraine Warren Susan Deliver Us From Evil is a diary of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s most startling investigations. First published in 1973 it is one of the earliest books about Ed and Lorraine Warren, who went on to become the world’s most famous demonologists and paranormal investigators. Almost everyone has experienced one form of supernatural activity or another, some have been driven to destruction by it. This book deals with the investigations and reports of supernatural activities such as the case of the demons that drove an 18-year old girl to practice human vampirism. Every story in this book is true, only the names of people or places have been changed to protect the living and the dead. Don’t miss the Warrens' blockbuster films “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle” (in theaters October, 2014.)
Doctor Sleep or The Shining Susan Don't know if this was really a recommendation "Doctor Sleep. It's pretty good so far, but a little disappointing that Danny from The Shining ended up a drunk."
Ghost Story or Amityville Horror Sistina Author Brian Swain What do you think about either one of these? I asked my friend Brian and he suggested them... Amityville Horror http://www.amazon.com/The-Amityville-Horror-Jay-Anson/dp/1416507698/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380604377&sr=8-2&keywords=amityville+horror or Ghost Story http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Story-Peter-Straub/dp/0671685635/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380604478&sr=8-1&keywords=ghost+story
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch Jeff or Susan According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world's only completelyaccurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon—both of whom have lived amongst Earth's mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle—are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist . . .
